Athlete of the Week Nominees April 14, 2017

Congrats to the Scholar-Athletes of Memphis Central High School on their outstanding performances which lead them both to be nominated as Tenneesee Runner Boys Athletes of the Week! Rashad Haynes Jr. (Sr.), Mercer signee, had an outstanding week posting: 100 Meter Dash- 10.87, 200 Meter Dash 21.73, and Long Jump 23-0; some of the best perfomances in the state! Courtney Thomas (Jr.), posted Triple Jump 46-07 and Long Jump 21-04.50. Congrats guys!
Marrissa Harris
Mississippi State University Class of 2017 Legend
Congratulations are in order for Coach Marrissa Harris!  Coach Harris was recently honored as a 2017 Women's MSU Legend.  The SEC  announced the 2017 Women's Legends Class, which showcases former student-athletes, coaches and administrators from all 14 SEC member institutions.
Coach Harris is a former Mississippi State Track (MSU) and Field standout who competed at MSU from 2006-09. She collected All-SEC honors five times as well as a Heptathlon SEC Championship in 2008. Coach Harris was exemplary on and off the track earning SEC Academic Honor Roll three straight years from 2007-09. During her time at MSU Coach Harris broke several records and still remain in the top five in several statistical categories. Coach Harris and the other nominees were recognized at the 2017 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament.

LSU 4x200M Relay Record Holders
Congrats to our 17-18 year old boys who are now the new record holders at Louisiana State University (LSU).  Juniors Courtney Thomas, Joshua Owten and Armond Poindexter, along with Senior, and Mercer University signee, Rashad Haynes have broken the 4x200 Meter Relay Record with the winning time of 1:33.
